Authentic Greek Sandals Size & Care.

Our handcrafted Greek Sandals fit true to size. Leather will naturally give, so a slightly firmer fit will be perfect.

If they require a clean then use warm water and a mild detergent (such as a sugar soap or a little dish washing liquid) together with a soft cloth. Clean the desired areas and dry with a towel. Leave them out in the open, not in direct sun, to dry further if required.

Handmade Espadrille Size & Care.

In the unlikely event that the authentic Jute sole of the Espadrille looks fuzzy, spray it with some hairspray. If the Upper part of the espadrille requires a clean then use warm water and a mild detergent (such as a sugar soap or a little dish washing liquid) together with a soft cloth. Clean the desired areas and dry with a towel. Leave them out in the open, not in direct sun, to dry further if required.

Peshtemal Care

Your beautiful Peshtemal products deserve a little extra care to ensure they wrap you in soft luxury for years to come. Please take care to launder gently, especially the first washing.

FIRST TIME ONLY

Before initial use we recommend soaking towels in cold water over night and hang to dry. This allows the cotton fibres to bloom and begin to reach its maximum absorbency. Each machine wash will make the towel softer and more absorbent.

FOR DAILY USE

Washing in the machine at 40°. Tumble dry medium or hang to dry. Do not over dry. No bleach or fabric softener.
If threads are snagged and pulled out, simply cut the thread off. This will not damage integrity of your piece.

Tip: if you ever over-dry your towels and notice a decrease in absorbency, simply repeat soaking process outlined above.

Caring for Leather Handbags:

Handle leather handbags with clean hands.

Leather bags are susceptible to absorbing grease and oils. Wipe the surface of a leather tote with a damp white cotton cloth, but be careful not to use too much water, because leather takes time to dry.

Apply a cleaner specially made for leather.

This “soft soap” is applied using a circular motion and wiped off with a slightly damp cloth so as not to clog the pores of the fabric. Applying this soap one or two times a year should keep your leather handbag clean.

Moisturize your bag with a leather conditioner to keep it supple.

Do not use a conditioner on patent leather purses.

Remove stains as soon as you notice them.

Organic stains from food or blood can often be removed with chalk powder. Crush white chalk, let it sit on the stain overnight and dust it off with a clean cloth.

Stuff your unused bag with bubble wrap to restore and hold its shape.

Store your leather purse in a dust bag or natural-fabric pillowcase. You can wrap the chrome or metallic parts — a chain handle, for example — in clean, acid-free tissue paper. If you’ve just cleaned the bag, allow it to air dry completely before storage. If you’re storing long-term, ease open the buckles and straps so impressions are released. This helps to avoid rubbing or permanent creases in unwanted areas.

Clean suede bags with a suede brush.

Double check the manufacturer’s suggestions for other cleaning solutions. Sometimes, a clean pink eraser can remove small spots from leather totes.

Kourelou Handbags & Clutch Care.

These bags are made using ethically sourced reclaimed materials from the end  of fashion runs. The hand woven fabric of your bag can be delicate and should be treated with care. Yarns, fibres and threads may fray with use. Please do not worry. This is normal and only adds to the unique beauty of the traditional fabric bag you have purchased. Under no circumstances do frayed edges result in your bag coming apart. If you do not like fibres sticking out from the edges, you can remove them by gently snipping them or threading them back into the weave.
